§ 42-403. Level 4, mandatory compliance; water emergency.

  • Mandatory curtailment will be initiated by the city manager. All elements of level 2 and level 3 remain in effect except that:

    (1)

    Outdoor irrigation using individual sprinklers or sprinkler systems is prohibited. All outdoor irrigation of vegetation must be done by handheld hose, drip irrigation, or handheld buckets. No irrigation is permitted between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m.

    (2)

    All nonessential uses of water will be strictly banned.

    (3)

    Under no circumstance will the use of water necessary for the establishment of landscaping in new, residential and commercial developments be permitted.

    (4)

    Commercial nurseries, commercial sod farms, and similarly situated commercial establishments will water only on designated days and must utilize only handheld hoses, drip irrigation systems, or handheld buckets. Such irrigation is not permitted between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m.

    (5)

    Commercial uses not listed will be controlled to the extent directed by the city manager. Businesses requiring water as a basic function of the business, such as laundromats, commercial car washes, high-pressure water cleaning services, etc., will obtain written permission from the city manager for intended water use.

    (6)

    The filling, refilling or adding of water to swimming and/or wading pools is prohibited.

    (7)

    The system priority for indoor water service will be based upon the following, which are listed in the order of priority for use:

    a.

    Hospitals.

    b.

    Residential.

    c.

    Schools.

    d.

    Industrial.

    e.

    Commercial.

    f.

    Recreational.
