§ 16-181. Prohibitions.

  • Smoking, or the use of other tobacco-related products, including, but not limited to, chewing tobacco and smokeless tobacco, will be prohibited in the following facilities or vehicles as detailed below; which shall encompass any enclosed building, or portion thereof owned, operated and/or under the control of the city, and within 15 feet of any doorway to said facility:

    (1)

    City hall.

    a.

    All administrative and staff offices.

    b.

    Utilities office.

    c.

    Council chambers.

    d.

    Restrooms.

    e.

    Hallways.

    f.

    Stairways.

    g.

    Breakrooms.

    h.

    Maintenance.

    (2)

    Library. All areas of the library.

    (3)

    Public works facilities. Public works facilities include maintenance, streets/sanitation, parks and recreation and water/sewer operations.

    a.

    Director's, superintendent's and secretary's offices.

    b.

    Restrooms.

    c.

    Any common areas.

    d.

    Bay areas (enclosed).

    (4)

    Utilities warehouses. All offices and breakroom areas.

    (5)

    Water/wastewater treatment plants. Offices and laboratories.

    (6)

    Public safety center/police department.

    a.

    All administrative and staff offices.

    b.

    Lobby, all restrooms and hallways.

    c.

    Breakrooms, copy and lab rooms, meeting and training.

    d.

    Kitchen, dormitories and laundry rooms.

    e.

    Equipment, storage and utility rooms.

    f.

    Bay areas.

    (7)

    Swimming pools and sports complexes. All areas within the facility.

    (8)

    Any area which smoking is prohibited by the fire marshal or by other law, ordinance or regulation.

    (9)

    All city-owned vehicles.
