§ 8-256. Application.

  • A towing service that performs nonconsent tows or performs consent tows and has a place of business in the city shall submit an application for a permit on a form provided by the chief of police. Such application shall contain or be accompanied by the following:

    (1)

    The true name, the trade name, address, and telephone numbers of the towing company.

    (2)

    The number of tow trucks proposed to be operated.

    (3)

    The true owners of the towing company, if the towing company is other than a corporation.

    (4)

    The true owners of the tow proposed to be used, if other than the true owners of the towing company.

    (5)

    A certificate from Bastrop and Travis Counties tax office showing that taxes are current on all real and personal properties.

    (6)

    A certificate of public liability and property damage insurance issued by a casualty company authorized to do business in the state, in the standard form approved by the state board of insurance, containing a provision that at least ten days' prior notice of cancellation of said insurance shall be given to the chief of police of the city, by the insurance company, and with the insured provision of such police including the city as an additional insured and the coverage provision insuring members of the public from any loss or damage that may arise to any person or property by reason of the operation of a permit holder's business and providing that the amount of coverage shall comply with TXDOT and VSF requirements.

    (7)

    The chief of police may conduct an examination of any criminal conviction of an applicant, including by obtaining any criminal history record information permitted by law.
