  • (a)

    Certain documents, one copy of which shall be placed on file in the office of the city secretary being marked and designated as International Residential Code for One- and Two-Family Dwellings, the International Building Code, International Plumbing, International Mechanical, International Gas, International Energy and International Property Maintenance Codes and all appendices thereto including permit fee schedule, 2012 edition and latest revisions thereto, published by the International Code Council, is hereby adopted as the code for enlargement, alteration, repair, moving, removal, demolition, conversion, occupancy, equipment, use, height, area and maintenance of all buildings or structures in the city, providing for issuance of permits and collection of fees therefor; and each and all of the regulations, provisions, conditions and terms of such "Standard Building Code," most current edition and latest revisions thereto, on file in the office of the city secretary, are hereby referred to, adopted, and made a part hereof as if fully set out in this article except as amended or modified herein.

    (b)

    At such time as a new edition of the building code adopted herein is published by the International Code Council, the building official shall obtain a copy and, after review, present it to the city council for approval. After approval by the city council, the new edition shall be placed on file with the city secretary and shall become the official building code. Should the city council desire to make any modifications to the new edition of the building code not reflected in this article, they shall adopt the amendments thereto by ordinance.
