§ 18-23. International Fire Code adopted by reference.

  • (a)

    There is hereby adopted for the purpose of prescribing regulations governing conditions hazardous to life and property, including the sale, use, and display of fireworks, from fire or explosion, the International Fire Code, 2006 edition, as published by the International Code Council, of which code not less than one copy shall be placed on file in the office of the city secretary, and the same is hereby adopted and incorporated as fully as if set out at length herein, except as it may conflict with provisions of this article.

    (b)

    At such time as a new edition of the International Fire Code is published by the International Code Council, the fire marshal shall obtain a copy and, after review, present it to the city council for adoption by ordinance. After adoption by the city council, the new edition shall be placed on file with the city secretary and shall become the official fire prevention code. Should the city council desire to make any modifications to the new edition of the fire prevention code not reflected in this section, they shall adopt the amendments thereto by ordinance.
